Day 1
ahaha.. I've been procrastinating for more than 2 months already!
I must finish updating my blog! By today! XD
okay..So what is Chuseok?
Chuseok falls on the 22nd of September which is also on Mooncake festival.
It is actually the korean thanksgiving and i think its the second most important festival for koreans.
On the first day, they will go to the cemetery to pray and clean up.
Then they will have a family gathering and eat this traditional food called songpyeon.
So on Chuseok's eve, we went to Pukyong-dae to meet up with a few malaysians.
They are my cambodian friends and also the previous malaysian batch's friends.
So from now on it will just be pictures and more pictures..ahaha
On the train to Pukyong. Apparently its quite far from Sasang.
A star! ahaha
New friends. =)
Songpyeon. 송편
I think its peanut inside. =)
Cute socks!
More cute socks. XD
Another one.
Everyone! ^^
After that, it was too late to go back and catch the last bus to silla so we decided to explore the area a bit.
We went to a baseball practice place? ahaha..it's quite cheap. 500won for 20 balls. =)
ahaha..My first time playing baseball! I have to say, it's painful if the ball hits your fingers! XD
After that we passed by an arcade so we went in to take a look and of course..play the dancing mate! ^^
On the way back to the subway station, we passed by this! alleluyah!!! ahaha! Its takoyaki! The takoyaki here is a bit different from the malaysian and japanese one.. There were vegetables inside, something like the one in pyramid, but the taste is similar to the one in Japan, and its spicy! ^^
TADA!! Yummm..
Waiting for the train. =)
Well, like i said just now, it was too late to catch the last bus so we decided to walk back. =)
That was my first time walking back to the uni instead of taking the bus.
Day 2
We started our day by meeting up with a few new Korean friends. So let's start!
This is Songpyeon.송편
It is made from 떡 (teok- rice cake) and its the traditional food for this festival.=)
The game GO-STOP that you always see those 'ahjunma' or 'halmoni' playing. ahaha.. It is a bit confusing but i still want to buy those cards!! ahahahaha..=D
Besides the GO-STOP game, we also played this which is aaaa..hmmm..something to do with stepping on a piece of paper? ahaha..There's also the knee wrestling game..=)
AHAHA..Behold! The game i always see in "2 days and 1 night". Its called 'Yut Nori' (윷노리). This game is usually played during the New Year and it has a lot to do with luck! ahaha..
So, i'll just explain a bit on how to play. There's a board and 4 sticks. The goal is to be the first to get all your pieces home.
One stick facing up is 도(do)-1 step in front
Two stick facing up is 개(gae)-2 steps in front
Three sticks facing up is 걸(geol)-3 steps in front
Four sticks facing up is 윷(yut)-4 steps in front plus another chance to throw
Four sticks facing down is 모(mo)-5 steps in front plus another chance to throw
If the stick with the 'X' is the only one facing up then its 백도-one step back
Sometimes they will draw a line where your sticks must land inside if not that throw would not be counted. =)
Next!
Me!! ahaha
Me again!! We were watching a horror movie called Bloody Camp.
Me again! ahaha..This was taken at night.
We were supposed to watch another horror movie but thank goodness they changed it to a comedy movie called Heavenly Soldier..XD
Day 3
Almost done people! Just 2 more days to go..ahaha
On this day, we went to Nampo-dong, Busan Tower at Yongdu Park and the Jagalchi Market.
The picture i took at a store while waiting for my korean friends.. Cool right!!! ahaha
At the top of Busan Tower. ^^ Did i mention our trips during Chuseok were all FREE?! ahaha
This is 찜닭. Traditional Korean steamed chicken. It taste a bit like chinese food and its spicy! All in all, niceee!
At the front of Jagalchi Market.
Ohhh! The ocean colour is so nice! XD
Along the streets of Jagalchi Market.
BIG big octopus!
붕어빵 (bungeoppang). It has red bean paste inside and its not that sweet so it is just nice. ^^
At night, we went up Baekyang Mountain to play the fireworks.
They were trying to capture the shape of the light using their camera. XD
We also played a few games on the mountain which were really fun! =)
Ahaha..After that, we went back to the dormitory but we didn't want to leave so fast so we played another game called 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 (Mugunghwa keochi pieotseumnida).
Day 4
Woohooo!!! ahaha..The last day for this post!
At the beginning of the day, our korean friends (Han and Kim Hyeon) were briefing us on the baseball game. They explained to us how it works and also how to cheer during the game. apparently, each baseball player have their own cheer and we also have a cheer to scold the opposing team like 마(ma)! ahaha..
This is Sachik Stadium. The match was between Lotte Giant and Samsung.
They also have a stage where someone will come and lead the cheer or dancers will dance during the break time.
They also have this "kissing time", "dancing time" and "proposing time". So cool! ahaha..Aww..see the grandfather and grandmother. So cuteeee! ^^
When the game was almost over, they started giving out plastic bags and people started putting it on their head. The plastic bags were actually for throwing the rubbish near you seats.
ahaha..i didn't put this on facebook. XD
In the end, Lotte Giant won! That was the team the whole of Busan was cheering for. So after the game, they had a fireworks display. =)
After the game, we went back to our dormitory and ordered chicken delivery. That was my first time trying the chicken here and OH MY GOSH! It is absolutely irresistible! Delicious!
And WALAH!!! The End of Chuseok post! XD
